College of San Mateo Student Housing

SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA

The Student Housing project at the College of San Mateo is a 2-story residential building housing 312 beds. The buildings include common spaces for kitchens, laundry, tutoring, academic counseling, mail delivery room and additional basic needs. The residential structure is a Type-V apartment complex consisting of wood framed floors and roof supported by wood bearing/shear walls. Two L-shaped wings are connected by a covered bridge with a seismic joint at one end. Foundations consist of conventional concrete continuous and pad footings. Floor and roof framing consists of conventional 2x wood framing spanning to unit demising walls. Since the residential housing project serves community college students, the jurisdiction is the Division of State Architects.
