MHP Structural Engineers is excited to announce the return of one of our summer interns, Sophia Maglabe, EIT, who will join us this month as a structural design engineer. She recently received her master’s degree from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in Architectural Engineering and has spent the last few years involved with the university’s chapter of SEAOC and Cal Poly’s Society of Women Engineers’ youth outreach events.
Sophia will also be speaking on a panel this week at the 2024 Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) Convention with her fellow Cal Poly peers. As part of a research team, they will be sharing their findings on the increasing drift capacity of non-ductile concrete shear walls through confinement with fiber-reinforced polymer application.
We are excited to have Sophia as part of the team, and look forward to seeing her in Portland!
